1986 Spree starts good, but won't stay running.

Post by mrohovie »

Hey, i'm new here, I just recently bought a 1986 Spree with 186 km on it. It's been in storage since 1987.

I've gotten it all cleaned up and everything, now i'm working on getting it started. It's starts fine and runs great for a few seconds then dies. It will also die immediatly with I gove it some throttle. I know it's getting gas to the carb. Does anyone know what would be causing this?

Thank you,
Mike

I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

I cleaned my carb last night and it fired right up and stayed running, even under throttle. THe float was full of garbage from the old gas. Thanks.

On another note, does anyone know how to drain the transmission oil? That page is missing in my manual. Thanks.
