Spree Handlebar Replacement and Grips

Hi all,
In the middle of my custom Spree and looking to swap out the bars with drag bars. I'm making the bar out of 3/4" 1/8" thick aluminum tube since I want to use the original switch housing. The downside is that I can't find any suitable grips for that size diameter. I've been looking for grip adapters to go from 3/4" to 7/8" but I don't think they exist.
I had a thought on increasing the inner diameter of the housing to be able to fit on a standard 7/8" bar by grinding it a bit larger to accommodate it, but I'm afraid of messing up the space for the components inside it.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas?
