No Compression after Spree died

Post by Farfignugin »

So no one complains...'85 Spree

Well, I was driving home tonight and all of a sudden I hear some sort of pop. After that the scoot slowly starts to die and then dies completely. I try to start it and completely no compression (motor turns, but as if spark plug is out). Spark plug is in nice and tight, and the carb & intake are tight too.

Possible causes?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. My dad says it might be the head gasket.

yeap, you lost a ring or you have a hole in your piston. make sure that your oil pump is in and that your gaskets and seals are good all around. also, it is possible but unlikely that your reed valve broke.

Ok, here is what I found out after taking apart the motor. The top ring is broken and it took some of the piston with it. The good thing is the cylider is completely smooth!

A list of things that I require to fix it follow:

piston
wrist pin
wrist pin clips
rings (upper and lower)
head gasket
cylinder gasket (goes between the crankcase & cylinder)

Does anyone have these on hand? And if so, how much $ for all + shipping. If not, where could I buy?

Thanks in advance!

Well I e-mailed Greg, MySpree, what are your prices? I'm looking for good condition stuff at reasonable price.
