yep! I tried the oil in bottle for 3 days and Nothing! it has a part number on the rubber tube - it's GK8-870 6A29.

Why, do you know where I can find one?

That part # you listed is not a good number.
I'm trying to help by finding the correct part #.
Having trouble finding it.
I think the cable for a Urban Express will work
and it can sometimes be found at www.treatland.tv

^^here's a link to that Urban Express cable.
Check your measurements...it gives the cable measurements on this site.
I apologize if I am sending you the wrong way.
I refer back to similar cable hunting by previous posters.

No worries Motormike, any help is greatly appreciated. I'll measure it tomorrow and see what I get. I had found this one at scooter works, but again, had not yet measured the old one. Thanks!

I just ordered this one from Walmart. The measurement looks right but not sure if it’ll work or not yet. Would rather have bought an original but couldn’t find one either, and figured 12 bucks was a worthy gamble.

Should have it soon, will repost once I have it on to let you and anyone else know if it works or not.

Got it working! I added some cable lube to help it last, the casing is thinner and if you could get an original I would, but if not it works. I’m using it on island roads with no hills so stopping power, while important, is not as vital as a hilly heavy traffic area so the lesser quality doesn’t worry me too much. I’m a little picky with safety usually so you might still feel confident in it. I didn’t bother with the spring as the brake arm creates plenty of tension. Also the joint pin (the cylinder that fits into the arm that the bolt goes through) that it came with is slightly too big for my 85 spree. I misplaced the original and had to do some creative rigging till I can find one that fits, so retain your original if you have it. Best of luck!

So went on fine, no real issues. It comes with a spring to keep tension but I chucked it since the original doesn't come with one. used the same barrel and adjustment screw as original since the barrel provided is not going to fit the drum arm. works great!!

DrunkBotany, here's to you my man, good find!!

Awesome, glad it’s worked for you Albie007! Mine seems to be holding up well so far, now I just need to find a new clutch and I can call my scoot good for hopefully a hot second.

Well done making a bicycle cable work !... :worship:
I'd expect it to wear out and stretch more than a scooter cable.
Who knows, :nervous: might last for years.
