84' Melody Drivebelt dimensions question, maximum confusion

Hello everyone,

I've recently purchased an 84' Melody Deluxe (NB50 (E)) and plan a sorta long trip with a friend. Now I'm trying to get some maintanance done. The engine code is AB07E. Ive used the forum search function but I'm still not quite sure what the correct dimensions of the main drive belt are. Certainly it seems like there are no oem belts anymore and third partys are the way to go...no issue but id like to buy something of higher quality. Even the original mechanic shop book doesn't tell me. Over at cms, it seems like 23100GE8004 is the right part number, however this also corresponds to the Aero 80, which seems to have different dimensions again then what my searches come up with, the size being 745x15. Some japanese website says 651 x 14,0 mm is correct.

Even tho I own a buncha Hondas, I have never changed the belt yet, which is hopefully gonna change.

So what dimensions are the right ones, for an 84' Melody or Aero 50 / NB50 (E) ? I have purchased a belt from Mokix which seems to be of ok quality, with the size being 667x15,9 mm and originally designed for suzuki. With the searches I come up with all sorts of different answers. 669 x 14 / x 16 etc. 651 x 14 ? The length differences have me confused.

The Honda part number for the 84 NB50 belt is 23100-GJ8-000. I think your Japanese web site was correct: 651X14X30

Thank you very much! Exactly what I was looking for...althought I might have another question...would a similarly sized belt work at all? I was looking at a 652X15,5 Dayco Belt...which is very close and of good quality. The seller you showed me is from the US, I'm from germany...it would be a bit costly.

Sorry, I don't know about the Dayco belt, but since your scooter has a variator, I think you should used the correct size belt, 651X14X30. I don't think the quality or brand of the belt will make any difference, as any belt will likely last longer than you will be riding the scooter.
