Pulsar question

Post by steve24265 »

I currently have a no spark issue. It's an 84 spree nq50. I have another post all about it. I've been chasing my tail checking continuity at every single spot possible. I don't know if this would be an issue, but what is the voltage output when cranking with the starter. I figure it would be variable. The ohms reading for my pulsar coil is 125ish and the stator was around 980. Then I watching a video with a guy adjusting the gap for the pulsar coil. Is that possible on the spree? If so, how do I do it and what would it be at? I didn't find anything on the manual.

I'd pull the manual (posted here) and look up "No Spark" troubleshooting.
There is no "gap" in the Spree ignition system. It runs off the CDI.
That said, did you try unscrewing the spark plug cap, trimming off the end, then re-installing it? I've had issues with that before.

I figured it out!!!! Watch a YouTube video for generic small engines and they said .010' min gap and a max of .030". The pulse coil was d*** near 1/4" from the magnet on the flywheel. Pushed the "head" of the coil much closer to the flywheel and wouldn't ya know. Got sparky!!! I first unscrewed it to see if there was an adjustment, but no possibility of adjustment

Ah, the mag pickup. Glad to hear you got it running. I didn't even know that part was adjustable.
