Brake locked from Cold?

Post by starsnbars »

So I'm back at school and it's d*** cold, it gets as low as single digits and looks like it won't be above freezing for a while. I brought my 85 spree up here and am keeping it under a backyard cement staircase to protect it at least from the wind and snow. I went out today to see how it lasted a snowy freezing night, and when I went to hold in the right brake to start it, the lever would barely pull back. I didn't want to force anything, so I just went back inside and covered the spree back up. The bike is backed in under the steps so the front of it gets more exposure to the wind and snow. Is this something typical of keeping it outside in freezing temps?

It should thaw out.
Probably some frost or moisture got on the cable or shoes.

It may not be the cable but the brake cam, pull the hub sand the shaft down and use white lithium grease, its good to 20 degrees below zero.
Can't afford speed then stay away from it!
