Well I guess the first thing to ask is how much do you weigh? The other thing would point to a bad clutch or drive belt slipping because it is stretched.

Replace the belt and rebuild the clutch. How many miles does this have on it?

is there a way to test the clutch to be sure its the issue at hand? i mean other than it being on the bike trying to get it to go.

Take off the cover that protects your belt and clutch and take a look. It may just be a worn or stretched belt. If you can find the spec for your belt you will know. You have to measure the width of the belt and compare it to the spec measurement for when the belt should be replaced.
