Fuel Flow Issue

Post by weux »

I put a new fuel shutoff valve on my spree and I have noticed now that if I let it sit for a while, it seems like the gas in the bowl evaporates and then I have to crank the engine from a couple minutes before the gas fills up the bowl again. I never had this problem before when I had a free flowing valve. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?

It depends on how long you let it sit, the proper working fuel petcock will only allow fuel to pass it when the moped is running, vacuum open the valve to allow fuel to pass it. This will be an issue if you don't ride it more then once a week or so but if you ride it every day and this happens perhaps you could still live with it since it really isn't a problem. To check if it is really have the gas evaporate from the carb just open the fuel drain on the bottom of the carb and see if gas comes out and if not then it is evaporating.
