Losing power after warming up

Post by wikked_spree57 »

Like said above, I got my Spree going great now with a new set of rings. But, once it gets at normal temp, it's obvious it loses power. Seems like you have to throttle harder to get it going. It runs well, just doesn't seem to have the power you think it would.

And no, I NEVER went full throttle with it.

Any input? This normal? I'm not looking for a rice bike, just curious whats happening.

Its a stock bore an run it around at different throttles, get it up to top speed a few times. Need to knock down the hone and wear the rings to the bore. They sounds like rice rockets when you drill the muffler out and get over 15mph.

Yea, when the case is still cold the fuel air mix is denser.

Alright so it's normal. Good to hear. Kenny, I ran her to tops tonight like you suggested. The result was good speed (man does that thing come ALIVE after 10-15) but... it seems to vibrate alot. What about that one?

Does sound cool though, someone already drilled my pipe.

I actually ripped it wide open all the way down my road and when i got almost to my house I killed the ignition so we'll see in the morning what the plug looks like. I need to take the head off again anyhow, I noticed today it was on and the fins face the wrong direction. I feel stupid.. lol

I am truely amazed... someone has to have modded this thing already. I wizzed past a cop sitting in a 30MPH zone, got pulled over and he said his radar got me at 37MPH, he thought this was funny but stopped me to tell me that I was speeding, I had no idea... my odometer is busted and the needle for the speedo is gone.. lol

When cold the bystarter is enrichening the mixture. You might need to up your main jet. 37 is pretty good, IMHO.

Possibly I could move my main jet up a notch? I'm going to plug-chop it tomorrow and see how it's doing. It seems like it could take off just a bit faster, but when wound out it will climb a bridge nicely ;)

* I forgot to mention that I have a slight problem... It will NOT run with ANY air filter. It's wierd. I take the airbox cover off, it dies out. Not enough gas. I put a filter in, too much gas...

WHAT the ?!?! What should I do about that?

Bystarter not closing? Clogged up airbox lid?

IDK then, go down a jet size or 2.
