Kick start

Post by cody_maasen »

It is a pretty basic question. I recently picked up 3 honda sprees all of which came with kick starts but none of them with the ability to work correctly. One bike I have pretty much deemed a parts bike because of the amount of rust on the components. The others seem like I will be able to make them work. I Took one of the mopeds kick starts off because it was assembled correctly and moved it onto the moped that was most complete that was my friend was using till the kick start broke on it (the spring came loose). I noticed that the mechanism that moves to spin the crank on one has the gear pitched the other direction. Do some sprees kick starts kick forward and some kick backwards?

Anyhelp would be appreciated!

No I mean I have two kick start assemblies, and one of them the mechanism that comes out when kicking to engage the crank wont work on the other kick start and vise versa because the gears are cut the opposite directions. Does anybody know what im talkin about.

They need to kick forward...the spindle/teeth match up with the starter teeth.
