We have cleaned up an 86 Spree that had been sitting for a year or more. It turns over. We can get it to fire if we prime the cylinder but it won't keep firing on its own. It does not appear that fuel is making it into the cylinder. The carb is clean and in good shape. The bowl fills. The float works. We have tried playing with the jets and idle screw.
Any suggestions on what else to try? Could it be a problem with the auto by-starter? (the resistance does not measure within spec). Any help would be much appreciated

Bottom line, your carb is probably not squeaky clean, and has a blocked idle jet.
