New to the forum need oil help

Post by DRACUTSPREE86 »

Hi i have just gotten a 1986 honda spree and have put about 200 miles on it . i am using suzuki 2 stroke injection oil in it because its the only 2 stroke oil that im familar with. my question is what oil should i be using for the injection unit and what would be a reason of my spree going only 25 miles on one tank of gas? it tops out at 25 mph also. any help of feedback is much appreciated i just got the thing and love its endless wheelies, if i could just get a little help to get me on my way............

You can also use amsoil. I do and it is awesome, no smoke and I cruise at 30 and hit hills around 25.

You should be getting better milage on an unmodded scoot. Check the size of your main jet, it may be oversized for the tuning. Remove it, check the number, then check with the dealer for what is stock (Spree is #65)

thanks for the help, your right in saying it is un modded as of right now, i think the carb could use a good cleaning as well as the new oil. it tops out between 25-27 mph and goes 25 miles on a tank if im not doing wheelies. i also got the spree with holes drilled in my air box, i put my fingers over the holes while riding to see if it ran better and its performance suffered greatly, do i need these holes? if not should i get a whole new air box? i belive the jet is stock but i will check it out

sounds like u have the wrong jet if performance dropped when blocking the holes. for now tape them up.

I would either tape up the holes/buy a new lid, AND change the jetting back to stock. You need to do both at the same time, or (as you've found) you won't get an improvement. The main jet is the one that unscrews from the carb. It has a number stamped in the side. Remove it and report back with the number.
