Need Help===Removing Alternator Rotor on Chinese 49.9 Scoot

Hello, I am in need of removing the Alternator Rotor to replace a customers damaged stator.
It's a long story, but to keep it simple, customer decided to clean fan, put wrong bolt back to hold it on that was longer then stock, and that longer bolt chewed up the stator.
Anywho, I removed the nut holding the Alternator Rotor on, and expected the rotor to pop right off. Well, wrong
I could use some tips to remove the rotor without causing damage. I tried a gear puller, but did not tighten it very much so I would not cause any damage, or heaven forbid, crack the aluminum.
With all the hundreds of Chinese Scoots I've sold, this is my first time needing to replace a rotor, and having a really tough time finding documentation on the setup.
Ideas would be awesome. Sorry, no picture of the setup, I let a family member borrow my camera Friday, and have not had a chance to get it back
THANKS!
