Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I thought you guys didn't like me. It took several hours to get approved! I just wanted to say thanks. Coming from the world of Ve$pa parts, I was amazed to learn that an automotive v-belt can be used for the drive belt on a Spree. I looked at the belt and it was almost in two. Auto Zone had a "Duralast" 13250 belt. I installed it and it works great. Now I just need to search for ways to get more top end. 30 is a bit slow in this neighborhood.

Oh, one last thing. I searched for a supplier of decals, but got directed to Ebay. I am bidding on a set right now. Will let you know how they look if I win.

The auto belt gives you a couple MPH. Seafoam the top end. De carbonize the muffler. Clean the carb. Replace the air filter if it isnt a big sponge, if its all thin and raggy get rid of it and buy a new one, the Honda ones ship half * oiled so oil it yourself.

While you have the carb off pull the intake manifold and smooth out the transition with a dremel.

This will have you in the low 30s. With lots of port work it might hit 40, you can only do so much with a fixed gear trans.

Is the 13250 the Duralast manufacturer part number? I'm just wondering because I was thinking of getting a auto drive belt for my '86 spree.

Yep. Big numbers that the Auto Zone guy read were 13250. Small numbers say 10AV0635 Dimensions are 1cm x 63.5cm cogged v-belt.

But the stock belt is 62.8 x 1.14 and all I've read you need to go shorter in length and wider in width.

My stock belt was in such bad shape I had to eyeball it. So far so good. We'll see. Being an American, I don't do metric. Maybe it will stretch? Anyway, it was only $10. How much is a stock Honda belt?

You want a 1/2" top width 24" cog belt if your interested in increasing top speed, stock is metric 628x11.4x30 thats all in mm

I ordered the 1/2" by 24" belt, and I don't know how it's supposed to work.. is it required to remove the back wheel when you want to put in a new belt? I've been able to remove the clutch and pulleys, thats as far as I got with it.

No need to remove the wheel. If it isn't going on well likely it is the wrong size. Usually I leave the front pulley alone, place the belt on the rear and coax the clutch back on with the belt on the pulley.

628mm converted to inches is 24.7244". I'm having a hard time understanding this.

So far "slow" stated they he used the Duralast belt, part # 15250, from the Vato Zone. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/ ... ier=887646.

- I ordered a Goodyear belt, part # 4L240, from ebay. But it just isn't fitting right.

Goodyear Belt #4L240 is .5" in width, 24" in length, and "seems" too tight.
Duralast Belt #15250 is .41" in width, 25" in length, was proven to work.

Does anybody else care to chime in on what's going on here? Will my goodyear belt work or should I buy a different belt? I'm working on a 1986 Honda Spree w/2700 miles.

just buy a stock honda belt and be done with it .your spree motor was not made to go fast so stop trying.if you want your spree faster swap in a dio or se50 motor

It already has a stock Honda belt.
