I am just wondering what I need to do to get my moped ready for sitting in my barn over the winter.

1) Fuel stabilizer into the fuel tank then run the scooter for 10 minutes to insure that stabilized fuel in into the carb.

2) Fogging oil into the air intake behind the air filter. Light spray at first until smoking heavily and then heavy spray until engine dies.

3) Spray exterior of engine and tranny with a corrosion guard.

4) Disconnect battery unless you have a battery maintainer for it. That is not a regular charger.

5) Make sure tires are aired up to max pressure.

6) In the spring, connect battery and start on old plug. Once motor quits smoking, install new spark plug.

You are good to go.

Full tank of fresh gas

Pull the airfilter boot off the carb, start the bike and while somebody throttles spray WD40 down the intake, keep it going on WD burst for at least 20 seconds and then spray full blast to shut it down. This will ensure the top end wont seize up in spring condensation. There is a special fogging oil for this if your really serious about it.

WD is a very poor winterizing engine fogging spray. It was designed to displace water, not stay adhered to metal parts for months. Fogging oil and corrosion spray are both available at any marine dealer and you will get about 5 years out of on can. Also fresh gas is a wast of time if you don't add a fuel stabilizer such as Sta-bil. The marine store will all have there own brand of stabilizer also.
