1. To clean my air element, instructions say not to use gas but a high flash point solvent (so I don't blow the place up i guess). Would regular paint thinner work okay? I'm hesitatnt to try it. If not what can I use/ where can I get it?
2. Is there any specific carb cleaning solution recommended? Will any old type work i.e. could i just got a random brand form an auto parts store? Since I don't have compressed air, should i use wires..soak...wires...soak until it's cleaned of gunk?? How about soaking the carb metal overnight?
Thanks
Kevin
2 Q's: what kind of solvent?, what kind of carb cleaner?

High flash point? How about water?
Seriously, I used to clean lawnmower filters with dishsoap and water to get the old oil out. I then dried them and re-oiled them. Should work on these, but I've never tried it.
Keep in mind, they're like $3-4 at the Honda dealer, preoiled.

Oh, carb cleaner. Any spray brand should work. Don't use wires to clean jets, it can damage them. Toothpicks are OK.
If you use a carb soaker (comes in a gallon can,) make sure that you remove all rubber parts, it eats them. You only soak in these for 15 minutes, then dip in water and dry. An overnight soak will dissolve the carb body. No joke.
