possible problem with carb

Post by deathwish »

i just scored a 86 spree in perfect condition almost new looking for $300... i am hoping to get this one working better then my 84 so iu can sell it and put a down payment on a gsxr... it looks great but doesn't really run to great. it tops out at about 20-25mph and sorta bogs... i think it may be running to rich i adjusted the needle clip and it helps but still not running too good.

Go to tech docs, "Improve MPG," and see if anything in there works here.

What jet was installed?

Removing the air filter allows dust and sand into the engine. They don't like that. You could try running a cone filter instead and keep the current jet.

This is the one I just ordered for my 1994 Elite 50S. Maybe it will work for yours also?

I just got it today and it fit like a glove, my carburetor anyway. I have a stock keihin on my 94 Elite 50S... about 28mm measured at the back-end. I just changed the clamp that came on it to a slightly smaller size, adjusted my carburetor a bit (the carburetor was still getting too much air even with the new EMGO filter, so I needed to add a...restrictor plate... to keep some of the air from rushing in too fast) and the scooter runs better than it did with the factory air filter, or no air filter at all. She goes about 34 (ish) now and I couldn't be happier.

Here is a link to my album of pictures of my scooter. You can see tha new air filter there as well as several other pictures of my Elite:

Re-read my posts earlier in this subject... It is a 1994 Honda Elite 50S.
