carb pouring gas

Post by vette76 »

u all know i am not new at this, but i cant figure out what the * is going on. the bike was running fine then it bogged and died. wouldnt restart. fuel was pouring out of the intake, a drain in the side of the carb, and the exhaust. i figured it was just a little flooded so i let it sit overnight. i finally got it running again but it boggs like crazy and gas still pours out of the intake and the side of the carb. i have cleaned it, removed the airbox put it back on, basically done everything i could think of. WHAT THE f***!!!

can anyone think of anything?

i totally cleaned the carb/fuel lines. i was gonna clean the tank but i didnt feel like it.lol. i stuck a piece of a rag in between the tank and petcock to act as sort of a fuel filter until i get an actual filter.

Sounds like the float is no longer sealing, and your crankcase is full of gas (running rich.) Get a real filter and clean your carb again, inspecting the float valve this time.

Also check to see if your float "floats." Those plastic floats used to break down and fill with gas on some bikes, although we haven't seen that here, yet...

the carb is working fine after i cleaned it. i also found out the problem with the airbox having to be open. i pulled the filter out and sealed the airbox tight and it went fuul speed, so that was just a dirty filter.
