tuning

Post by tospreeornottospree »

so on the 3rd almost 4th tank its tuning time general zod has a i believe a 62 low jet and a 158 hi jet tried to do a plug chop today and the plug still was white switched to a 165 still the same..... i dunno if i did right searched for a procedures and seems like im on spot yet it seem like the jets are too big
set up as following 44.4mm mini stroker crank 50mm bore kit compression was around 138 last time i checked 28mm oko carb and a v8 pipe any better starting points would be nice! temps run pretty good buzzing around but wot with the 158 temps would slowly rise never let them get out of control but any feed back would be nice!

to do a plug chop you have to go WOT for a few minutes and then immediately shut the engine off and come to a COMPLETE stop, because the engine will still turn over creating compression, sucking fuel into the jug, thus making your plug chop useless

did you stop right away or did you roll for a while?

BTW there was an off throttle temp spike to 450 today after going 67mph

What is the highest temps a CHT should read before I should worry?

whoa! a bit fast wouldnt you say :ndance: pry shouldnt do that too many times... cht is delayed and is transfered heat so might be more heat there then what registers

Are you killing the ignition with the "run/stop" switch or are you letting the engine run until you get the clutch to disengage? If you are not killing the ignition you are wiping the plug reading. FYI, if the plug does not color inside of 1 minute at WOT, it is never gonna color.

I think what bear is trying to say is that it does not take longer than that.
