I have a 50mm bore from tazland, roughly $100 on ebay. 3000 miles on my bore so far and no problems. It's not as fast as a corsa but you get what you pay for. I can do about 60mph just fine so that's good enough for me.

You should just get top of the line. Almost everyone and their mom gets a polini. Go malossi you won't be disapointed. Or get the corsa either way italian beats the * out of taiwan garbage. Its like asking if you should buy a lexus or a hyndai.

I have to agree that taiwanesse tolerances are pretty bad. I got a CT intake from taiwan and the holes dont line up at all. The center of one hole doesnt line up with the hole above it or the hole next to it. Its pretty bad

All Taiwan parts are not garbage. I would have to disagree on that one. Some parts are poor qaulity but you have to find the good makers is all.

Agreed, it depends more on the quality control of the individual factory.

Greetings:

Quoth PetRock:

I made the same incorrect observation the first time I tried to install my own CT manifold. In the case of the CT Manifold, this probably isn't a tolerances issue. The intake port on Honda-san's own block isn't a perfect rectangle. More like a Trap-a-zeda-Rhomboid. The gasket has to be installed with its asymmetry oriented the same way as the port. It's so close that it's hard to see, but one of Honda-san's bolt holes is a half-diameter off from where it "should" be.

As for the bore kit tolerances, I lack the tools and skill to measure with the required precision, but have been told it's sometimes pretty kinky in those cylinders as they come from the factory. Evidently the Factories consider "good enough" sufficient. Italian Pride in Craftsmanship is in a whole other league from my personal experience, except for the (presumably) Taiwan-made Nikasil. Maybe I just had bad luck on two different 51s, with different ports and pistons, but that was my experience.

Oh wow really? That's pretty nuts about the ct issue, I had no idea. I'm moddin one to fit on my spree and got mad cause it was a hard measurement to get into the Cnc program I'm using

Scott before you upgrade to a bore kit or gears you should invest in some good breaking!.....I'm still waiting for my left rear turn signal.
