87' Elite SE50

Hey everyone, I was wondering. How much of an improvement will taking the back plate off of my variator give me in terms of top speed? I have the Unrestricted engine. Right now depending on the amount of wind drag I am getting, I get up to about 42mph, And with wind I am at about 35mph. Also would having slightly lighter weights allow it to keep up to the top speed a bit better? The stock's are 10g, would 8g work better?

So right now you have the cover with the 3 bolts on the variator?

Yeah take it off. Take all the rollers out and clean the grease off them and out of the variator. Make sure the rollers are not flat spotted. If they are replacle them but don't put grease. Honda made a mistake by doing that. They stopped in 99 from putting grease. It made the rollers flat spot way to fast because the rollers couldn't roll.the grease packed up and made them slide.that plate will also let the ramp plate move out just a little more.so you should see around 45mph maybe more.get yourself a keli variator. That should help even more.
