a 55 pilot on a 24mm carb is really big. I would check for intake or exhaust leak somewhere. on a 24mm carb a 50 pilot is rich already. also double check and make sure that you have a 55 pilot in there. alot of guys have done that mistake of thinking they have the larger pilot when instead they still had the stock small pilot that came with the carb.

Well, my Daytona digital temp gauge is the culprit. Defective after 5 hours of use.

Alright well it's not the temp gauge.

I got the thing running again.
42,115 clip position 2 up from the bottom.

However, I have an odd loss of power right around 20mph
It sounds almost like bogging, the exhaust sounds different, and it gets a bit raspy.
Instead of bahhhhhhhh it's bah bah bah bah bah

Any ideas what could be causing that?

Are you using a 21mm carb or 24mm carb? What gears are you using?

I dropped the main down again to a 112 and now it doesn't respond well at all to throttle.

It'll make noise and what not but does not go anywhere fast. I could only get it up to around 15mph at close to 1/2 throttle.

I had better response with the 115 but it was still only getting me to around 20mph. Im really copnfused as to whats going on here  :*:

ok so for sure your using a 21mm oko carb? because a the jets your using is really big and will do exactly whats going on with your bike. if its a 24mm carb, going to a 112 main jet will do exactly what you just explained will happen. make sure and measure the backside of the carb and make sure the inside diameter is 21mm. if it is a 21mm carb then you have other issues going on. going down in your main jet from where you were is suppose to get better which tells me you might have an intake leak somewhere.

Could you perhaps suggest ideal Pilot & Main jet numbers for both the 24mm & 21mm carbs.? (a good starting point)

21mm:

24mm:

Of course, these would be just used as baselines and would have to be tweaked from there, but where would a good starting point be?

Thanks!

Make sure your exhaust-to-cylinder bolts are nice and tight too.
