Can this carb be made to work on our scoots?

that would put the choke, and fuel on off valve close to the engine plus the intake is bigger so you would need a different manifold or adapter to get it to fit the stock mani. I thought about trying to use an off brand like that it would just be too much trouble if you could get even get a manifold to make it fit, as it is it wont bolt on.

Greetings:

Actually, foreign-market Dio models might have a manifold you could adapt to the SE/05 block. I'm pretty sure BradThreee did install a PB carb on one of his. It's just that these are hard to find in the US.
The carb's price is attractive, but careful you don't have to remove the pipe and rear wheel to activate the choke. :)
It might be worth seeking an Arreche-for-Honda - specify "Vision" - on an European site like Scooter-Center or 50cc.eu.

actually, im researching alternative carb/intake/reed setups for my af16e motor build project not the se50 motor. [that might go in the wifeys Spree!] i read with interest on your idea of an nh80 intake and boyesan reed setup. i always like the idea of pulling from other honda parts to upgrade. what carbs will fit an nh80 intake with the 43mm bolt spacing? I know the pb keihin carbs will fit but what am i looking for? will only the aftermarket version fit or can i look for a pb carb from another honda? $170 for the pb 19mm carb on ebay sounds too much. I may as well just get the CT manifold and OKO carb for $160. Too easy. If I can do something unique (read custom) and with Honda parts (and cheaper), im all over it.

You can get the CT and an OKO kit from autotech335 on ebay for around 135 if you do the BEst Offer or scooter assassins sells the kit in at least 24mm with the CT air filter, throttle cable etc for 135 free shipping. it is the easiest route to go. With a CT manifold and a boot adapter from treatland you may be able to adapt a mikuni :D that was the idea I was toying around with but my mikuni is a 30mm waaayyy too big for my setup currently :D the actual keihin pwk that the OKO was cloned from only came in 3 different sizes. I think now there are 8 or 10 different OKOs 21 24 26 28 30 and I saw were they have them all with powerjets now instead of just the 24mm but i dont think the power jet does any good unless your bike reaches high rpm to take advantage of it OKO without powerjet is k101 with powerjet is k-102. at any rate they didnt put the pwk on many bikes cause it is the cheapest carb keihin made hahahhaha I think keihin makes the OKO too since there is a K stamped inside the carb

Ok, so what is a good carb to get for the money? I don't want to spend $100+ on a crappy carb. I'd want a quality tuneable carb. At least, the PB series has a changeable pilot and main jets. what about adapting the VM series Mikuni carbs? Anything from the Monkey/Z50 world that will work on our scoots? Basically the same size motors over there but 4 strokes.

if you can find the right adapter anything is possible :D i would have tried to experiment to get a mikuni to fit but my budget is non existant :P look on japan.webike.com they have some other manifolds than the CT maybe give you some more ideas

Would this adapter work for a Mikuni VM18 carb and Aero 80 intake?

http://www.minimobracing.com/store/p120 ... _info.html

It notes a 42mm spacing but with a little fudging/drilling, it may fit.

I am not really sure, if the round part clamps into the lets say for instant the CT manifold then the carb bolts on to your adapter then maybe. I think they make a manifold that has the bottom part and reeds like the CT but the top part has the manifold for bolt on carbs verses clamp on rounds

Not sure about the aero 80 intake, But that looks like it may fit inside a ct manifold

when I get to the shop i will measure the ID of the ct manifold.

Aero 80 intake (~$20) , Kitaco adapter (~$35) and Mikuni VM18 carb (~$75) . The VM18 are readily available still new and seems to be easily tuneable. But adding it all up, it's the same as a CT manifold and OKO carb. But maybe, the Mikuni makes the difference in quality?? Oh, I haven't added the Boyesen reeds (~$20).

I'm thinking the Aero 80 intake may fit, depending on the accuracy of measurement. Is the Aero 80 intake centers a specified measurement or someone taking calipers to one they have?? A 43mm intake may be smaller at 42.5 and an adapter may be bigger at 42.5 and Voila`, it fits??!! What's 1 mm when it comes to cast aluminum!??

I still think the ct manifold is the way to go. It comes with reeds. CF reeds available for it too.

Hey Mystic: I think you have it backwards. The adapters spigot (22mm OD) fits inside the carb outlet (VM18 has 22mm ID spigots) and the 42mm flange fits whatever manifold you choose. I was thinking it may fit the Aero CH80 intake. Not sure what the measurements are for the CT manifold.

Ok, if you are using a CT manifold (spigot type inlet), you don't even need this adapter. VM18 is already a spigot type carb. I think the OKO (PWK) carb is also a spigot type. This adapter is only if you want to go from a spigot carb to a flange manifold (aero 80). Hope this clears it up.

Now, if TJ or anyone else can measure their OKO carb or CT manifold, we can see if a VM18 is a good alternative. Let's get measuring!

The ID of a CT intke is 1.068 iches or 27.1272 millimeters
But it seems to taper in a bit to 1.029 inches.
