areechi 19mm

Post by 305elite »

Has anyone dealt with areechi carbs before.....I'm building a friends bike and after installing the Carb it ran great...I let it idle for a Lil while then shut it off...I put everything back together and when I was done I went to reatart and go for a ride it wouldn't start because fuel was just pouring out the Carb....almost like freeflowing?.....anyone have a idea....I was thinking a vacuum problem?

does it leak when sitting or only when trying to start? If it leaks while sitting you would have a problem with your petcock and the float needle seating properly. or float level is set to high. If it only leaks while trying to start then the probably only the float needle seating or float level to high.

what type of scooter? if it has a vacuum actuated petcock, then the petcock is not operating correctly. try cleaning using the instructions in the forums wiki. but also the float needle is not shutting off the fuel flow as well. If the carb is new than the needle & seat should be fine, but the float level could be to high due to bouncing around empty during shipping.

really need more info this post, type of moped, work done, etc.

I doubt you need to adjust the float if it was ok in the other bike. You might need to replace the needle and clean the needle seat (use a little toothpaste on a q-tip)

Use toothpaste to clean the seat?...leave the paste or clean it off with some Carb spray when done

Toothpaste is an abrasive and will smooth the seat. Clean it all off with carb cleaner when done.
Look at your needle and see if the tip looks worn while your at it.

it is possible that some forgeign object in the gas lines is preventing the needle valve from seating. Are the gas lines old or new? also if its just sitting and gas continues to pour out then your petcock is bad too. Even if hte petcock was bad the valve needle and float would cut off the fuel. to know i fhte petcock is bad just pull the gas line off the carb with the engine not running. if gas continues to pour out constantly then the petcock is stuck open. a certain amount of gas will pour out reguardless but it should stop if hte petcock is functioning properly. if there is no trash obstructing the valve needle seat then the rubber on the needle valve may be damaged or worn. if all this checks out good then adjust the metal tab on the float slightly so that when the bowl fills with gas the float pushes the valve up sooner to cut off the fuel flow :D dont adjust too much or the bowl will not fill with enough gas or too much gas

Problem solved thanks for all the input.....it ended up being a bad petcock and bad seat on the float needle so everyone was right thanks again
