I did put the zx pipe back on. I completely disassembled the carb too :P whatever I did it would only idle the best with the a/f all the way in no matter what size I want to throw this s*** in the trash. Only thing I can think is there is some sand or trash lodged in the pilot circuit somewhere

Sounds more like you bent the float tab when you had it apart and the float level is two high.

If i put a 54 pilot in i can turn the a/f all the way out and it will run but 48 or 45 it wont idle without the a/f all the way in. I adjusted the float to 19mm. I cleaned the pod filter and put a new exhaust gasket on. could a vacuum leak somewhere cause this? I am about to take the ct mani off and try the stock mani and the arreche first then the stock carb. I completely gutted and cleaned the 21 oko so i know the carb is not dirty at all. it will run and i can get it to WOT just the idle problem

I know you guys think I am completely ignorant and I hate to keep asking questions and what not but has anyone else had this problem with OKO carbs? I switched to the stock manifold and arreche carb and it started right up and idled perfectly at 1 1/4th turns out like it is supposed to though for some reason small amounts of oil/fuel bubble up from the vacumm nipple on the manifold but the main thing is it works with smaller jets even than the OKO

I am thrilled yet at the same time sick to my stomach :P I just wanted to recap, I hate when people leave threads after fixing a problem and never post the results. After much trial and headaches I think I figured out the problem with the idle. After doing all those plug chops my br8hs plugs' squish rings werent sealing off the plug hole pulling in extra air on the downstroke and pushing oil/fuel on the up. I noticed excessive liquid around the plug hole and oil around hte base of the plugs between the ring and the metal body. I had a barely used bp6hs in the toolbox so I put that it in there and it ran fairly decent on a 42 pilot which is what i used originally. uped to a 45 and it wouldnt start with the a/f closed and up to 2 turns out it would try to run so I was like heck yea progress :D put the 42 back in and adjusted my needle clip position with 100 main. just took her for about a 10 mile haul and got up to 45 on the straight and upon stopping smoothly transitioned to idle at 1 to 1 1/4th out. I am going to leave my setup alone from now on till I have all the parts to compliment the contesta and several spare UNOPENED spark plugs

I suck at tuning as well, so reading this thread was fascinating for me.
Thanks for sharing.

Are you still using the arreche carb? I was going to use my arreche 19mm and swap out my 21mm oko, so I can use the auto choke on the arreche. What do you think?

No the 17.5mm arreche I have came with too rich pilot jet so I just use the 21mm oko, I will probably use it on my stock build once i get some different jets.

Wouldn't it have been easier to change the pilot jet rather than to a different carb?
