Stock bore with no hg?
I was reading a post someone did with a bbk kit and no hg. But is it too much to run a nq50 86 with no hg. Also planning on porting exhaust as well as intake. Hoping for higher compression to even out the pully mod. Is it too much compression?
Re: Stock bore with no hg?
What the * is hg? Oh and porting will not increase compression.crimespree wrote:I was reading a post someone did with a bbk kit and no hg. But is it too much to run a nq50 86 with no hg. Re: Stock bore with no hg?
Oh really porting it won't increase compression? Well No s*** hick. Ok so have a grove machined for an oring. I just thought I had heard people running without a hg is why I asked. Any feedback on trying this?
Re: Stock bore with no hg?
O-ringing heads has been done for years with great success.
But cutting the o-ring groove can be expensive compared to cutting .020 to .030" off the head. And you accomplish the same thing.

Re: Stock bore with no hg?
if an o-ring would hold what about rtv with no hg? i guess basically my question is the width of the hg larger than the allowance of shaving the head?
Re: Stock bore with no hg?
If that would work, don't you think the auto manufacturers would be doing it?crimespree wrote:if an o-ring would hold what about rtv with no hg? i guess basically my question is the width of the hg larger than the allowance of shaving the head?

Re: Stock bore with no hg?
Ive been running without a headgasket for ova 1500miles on my spree.I just cleaned both surfaces put a small amount of high temp RTV around the jug then torqued the head down.It was only gonna be temporary but 1500miles later and its holding up fine

Re: Stock bore with no hg?
thanks for the imput paul. this will also be temporary, untill i track down a ruckus engine. just wanted something a little faster in the meantime and to experiment with. do you know what compression you are running?
Re: Stock bore with no hg?
Cost, gaskets are cheap compared to machine work.crimespree wrote:they dont do o-rings and those work. so im sorry i dont see a valid point...?
