Basically stock with 9.8 -1 gears outcome...
So I just recently installed my 9.8 -1 gears in my 2 2001 elite 50's. Motors are stock with perfect compression at just over 100: clutching is a keli variator, 2k grabbers, 1k center, airbox tab removed with I think I drilled to an 87.5 main to be safe and right now I'm running about 40 grams or so. Pulls to about 7800 rpm WOT flat ground and with my 220 lb fat * on it, I reached 49 mph gps verified. I went to a big downhill and reached 59 gps verified. Lost a little on the dig but so worth the extra mph. Anyone with similar setupsets see what you got and share...

Just over 100 PSI for compression is barely acceptable since the manual specs out 171 PSI max and 114 PSI minimum.

Stock pipe yes. And cbr1000 if I had 171 psi compression I'd have to run race fuel from the factory. 100psi is factory spec. I'm actually at like 107 I think.
Re: Basically stock with 9.8 -1 gears outcome...
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm no scooter genius but I think 170 is very high no????
Re: Basically stock with 9.8 -1 gears outcome...
If your at 107 psi then you wouldn't be able to pull hills at the speeds you are sayingSimonsr50 wrote:Stock pipe yes. And cbr1000 if I had 171 psi compression I'd have to run race fuel from the factory. 100psi is factory spec. I'm actually at like 107 I think.

you may think its high but its not cheep gas is all you need at this compression when you get closer to 200 your may need prem but not at the books max ...Simonsr50 wrote:Can someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm no scooter genius but I think 170 is very high no????

Greetings:
Flash 3 was all-stock from the crank up. Didn't even drill the airbox. 9:1 gears, good clutch and 90/90 tire was good for exactly 49MPH in my case too. Don't quibble about compression. Too much variation between testers. Even using a different adaptor made a 20PSI difference in my case. My Corsa's install compression was 115 or so. It ran 69 +.

Look in the manual, like I did. 114 minimum and 171 maximum. So at 107 you are below minimum and hence need a top end rebuild. Oh and no you would not have to run racing gas at 171.Simonsr50 wrote:Stock pipe yes. And cbr1000 if I had 171 psi compression I'd have to run race fuel from the factory. 100psi is factory spec. Only need race gas when you have a high compression RATIOBear45-70 wrote:Look in the manual, like I did. 114 minimum and 171 maximum. So at 107 you are below minimum and hence need a top end rebuild. The horsepower will limit top speed with variable belt drives. That is why the 9.8 gears get the same speeds as the 9.2:1 gears on stock bores.
