unexpected day off today, did some more carb tuning and road testing (little bit)
turns out that a 110 main jet with 20 pilot and s1 needle set in middle does decent. Only took 2 half mile runs and not full throttle, so don't think the temp peaked,
tt temp gauge says 272 max temp. Used to not go over 309 but that was with different setup. The 8.5 rollers seem ok but forgot to mark the variator with a sharpie, will have to do that at a different time. Was just ecstatic to get it on the road again, hadn't planned on taking months.

Ahhh yes, some of the purple paint did turn to black next to the engine and about 3" long. can't see it with the covers back on.

put the 1500 center spring and natural clutch springs on today. Didn't like the 1500 so put the factory one back on and left the natural springs. Still a little high revving before take off but not to bad. Have left the carb alone with the 15 pilot and 110 main. Had no problem going out of the subd'v uphill at above 35 mph with no problem, temps hit 290. Buried the speedo needle before top speed, which means i shouldn't have to go wot to stay with traffic in my riding area. Happy with that. No gps and don't really care about top speed.

I'm a happy camper.  :woot:

Heh! With stock front tire, the center of the little black screw on the speedo face (about the 3:00 position) is 50mph according to my Garmin GPS. If you're below the screw, you're really moving!

with stock tires I don't think I need to go wot. If they weren't new I might consider a higher speed rated tire. Oh well would need better brakes anyways.

Have taken the polini natural springs off and replaced with originals. Wife won't ride if she can't keep the front tire on the ground at take off also don't think theses scoots will handle very many hard landings without frame damage.
put the 1500 center spring back on and ended up with 3-9gr and 3-9.5gr rollers. Not sure of top speed diff. but seems to be peppier in the low end.

Question: the stage six rollers I used came with a packet of grease, I don't read any foreign languages so am unable to read the back of the card. They don't really suggest using grease do they????

you mean for the ramp plate? if so, no they didn't. also were only sets of 3 but they were the only 9.5's I could find all the other brands went from 9gr. to 10gr.

Yes, for the ramp plate. I thought maybe the grease was intended to lube the slides.

What did you not like about the 1500 center spring? I ask because I was about to put one on my af16 build and was curious what it made yours feel like? Also did you try to change the variator weights to adjust for the new 1.5k spring before removing? Thanks

hard to explain why I don't like it. It is back in at the moment and seems as if I have lost some of the top end. ended up with 3 9gr & 3 9.5gr weights, any more and it didn't seem to change anything. Might be to heavy of a spring for my 21mm intake. seems like most people have good luck using the 1500 with the ct and a larger carb.
