AF16 VS. AF05
total noob here, in fact this is my first scooter and will also be my first build in which i plan on swapping out the engine.
ive been doing research and it seems the AF16 or the AF05 is the easiest to swap out into a spree, esp for beginners.
while i love the 1985 spree i was fortunate enough to get a few months back, the speed limits by me are all 35-45 mph. which means ideally i would like to go at least 45-50 mph.
just wondering if i could get your guys estimate on how much I would need to spend to attain 45-50 mph with both the AF16 and the AF05
AF16 engines ive been seeing on average for about $250, with AF05 engines going at about $150.
now i know AF16 engines are more recent, easier to find and can be made to go very fast.. but if im able to find a AF05 and not have to spend as much money to have it go the speed i need it to that would be super rad! just tryin to get an estimate on how much money I will be needing to spend. thanks guys

Aside from the initial cost of the two engines, the cost to upgrade them properly is not that different.
Red EFT has good prices on af05 and af16 topend kits.
A good pipe for a af05 is kinda hard to find.
The exhaust selection for af16's is much better.
Having a speed goal of only 50mph, either engine will do.

I think you will be more happy with AF16. More parts available for the AF16...

The AF16 is easier to find, and has a bit more efficient stock porting than the AF05...
