What size jet to use?

Post by devenex »

I've finished rebuilding a motor off an '85 Aero (af05 w/ 2 bolt intake) while also using the time it was disassembled to open up the exhaust and intake ports (didn't change timing though). Other than that port work and the fact I'll be using a uni pod filter this is a stock setup.

Now anyone have an idea what size jet this might take? The largest I have right now is a #88, will this be big enough or should I order something bigger?

Greetings:

Stock pipe? 88 should work. Maybe even 85. 82 was stock.

Ah cool,I have an 85 and an 82 so I can jet down as needed from 88. Just wanted to make sure 88 wasn't going to be obviously too small and lean out my freshly rebuilt top end.

And yes, I'm using the stock pipe. Maybe one day I can get the dough together for a leo vince, but first I need to get this mounted under my spree and broken in :2thumbs:

I would if I had it, plus I was also concerned about clearance with the spree's panels. Might buy one down the road, if i can confirm that it would fit ok.

If you ported it correctly you should be using a smaller jet and dont run it without the airbox. Fixed pilot will never compensate dont learn the hard way. You can even make your own air box. Oh and there are plenty of plug chop articles

I knew the sprees were finicky, and I've seen a number of members here put a pod filter on a stock af05 and have no troubles. I don't remember seeing this swap performed with the stock airbox, and assumed it was because of clearance issues.

Can anyone confirm the stock airbox will fit without issues?

No the intakes don't swap over. Especially on this year since it has a spree-styled 2-bolt intake.

Greetings:

Several members, OK at least one, has described an adaptor that mounts a CT intake to a Spree/SB block. I ran a pod for a while on Flash 1 with PA Carb without issues. Compensate with air screw ad raise the needle to full rich and beware long downhills.
