You're gonna love this question, but here it goes...

Has the carb been cleaned?

Haha, that it has but I'm off to the store tonight to get another can of carb cleaner. It's worth a(nother) try, right? haha!

Carb has been thoroughly cleaned and placed back on. Should have all day tomorrow to kick around with it (no pun intended!) and will report back my findings.

So finally got around to starting up the Spree. It took a bit to finally turn it over, as I'm sure gas had to work its way through the newly cleaned carb. It booted up after some sweating and I was ABLE TO GET IT IDLING!!!! :bowrofl:

Took it up and down my apartment complex's street and man, does this thing fly now!!! Going to do some runs with STRAVA (I'm a cyclist, so GPS trackers are my best friend) and see how it runs!

Thanks for the help so far, it's definitely been a blast getting it running (and idling)!

Runs fine but no idle is often a clogged pilot jet. Could be bystarter issues if it starts and idles when cold but not warm.

oops didnt realize there were 2 pages to the thread...

Glad to see you got it working nicely! I just got my filter in the mail yesterday, so hopefully I'll be in the same boat soon.

So now my problem lies here:

The electric start won't... Start. I have charged the battery after it died, and all of the turn signals, horn, etc. work. When I press the 'Start' button, all I hear is the starter relay clicking, no motor revving or anything. Took the crankcase off and made sure nothing was binding.

@devenex: Glad to hear you got your filter! Let me know how it works out. I taped mine from the inside now, so it isn't apparent looking at it from the outside that it is limited. Hope it works out, as mine has been treating me well.

Try momentarily shorting the big wire side of the relay with a pair of needle nose pliers or similar. If you get a big spark but no movement, something is likely jammed, no spark at all, wires are open somewhere. You could probably just use an ohmmeter as well.

Thanks, that should help a ton! I'll give it a try and report back my findings... Right now the pacific northwest is living up to its name and pouring rain. So I'll have to see on a nice day what happens!

Ok, now I feel like an idiot... After building this thing from the ground up, I couldn't manage to backtrack and see that one of my plugs was obviously disconnected. Now it turns like a charm. GAH! College I tell you...

Today was a proud day for the Spree! It's been consistently starting on the first kick (electric start motor works now, but I don't think it has enough torque to turn over the engine... It's not a stock motor) AND I passed a motorcycle on a straight 35mph stretch of road! I have to hand it to the little Spree, he puts up a good fight! :)
