Lose power or gain power from drilling exhaust on 01 elite S

Post by steffen707 »

Okay, so I heard there is a washer welded in the flange of the exhaust, and was told it will give you more power to drill this out.

I've also heard that you need to drill out 2 of the three baffles instead of the washer to gain power.

I've also heard that doing either on the 01 elite I have will lose power cuz I won't have enough back pressure.

SO WHAT IS RIGHT? let me know all you smart guys.

The washer in the header is a known restriction take it out, the baffle thing is controversial.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

okay, then i'm gunna kill the washer and leave the baffles. If I just do the washer, do I have to re-jet?

You need to do a complete derestriction, gears + front pulley+ airbox + jetting + oil pump full on= right way or wrong way, pick one?

you didn't even suggest a plug chop, are you getting sick of people associating you with that or something???

be sure to check the spark plug color after you do this, or any other air flow related modification

Do some elite's have a 1 piece muffler??

Or do you have to cut the muffler off the header, nad weld it back afterwords??

I took my muffler off yesterday, no washer inside, no indication there was a ever a washer..

And my muffler/header is all 1 big piece, that goes from the exhaust tip, to the motor

they all have 1 piece mufflers, what are you talking about?

im assuming you have a honda elite Sr?
from my understanding, the elite Sr does not have the washer in the tail pipe.
