Spree air filter mod: they said it was impossible!! HA!!!

Post by Spreetard »

so i got a cheap breather filter to function as well as my stock airbox. first we cut the base with the trusty tile cutting bit. solid carbide on a dremel will cut through about anything.
Image

it is currently restricted with tape for hi-tech air metering
Image
we trimmed the stock air tube down a little (very roughly with wire *)
Image
Image

it goes 1mph faster than the stock airbox, good throttle response, chainsaw sound effects.

no, it is not really much faster. so why, you ask, is this spreetard so exited??

80/90-10 tires will fit sans airbox and center stand. possibly bigger, i still have 1/4 inch of space between tire and shock, 1/2 of clearace betweeen the engine case and the tire.
Image
Image

bigger tire= better gearing on my 1-speed ped. and it sounds angry. my intake is far louder than my exhaust, to the tune of being audible four blocks away @ WOT. stay tuned for pix and speed results, the stock tire is still residing under my currently unused stock airbox...

this is all in preperation for the 44mm big bore, so i'm sure further tuning will ensue.

Back in the day (we're talking before most aftermarket parts were made for the DIO engines), we used to make cheap filters out of wide mouth gatorade or pepsi bottles stuffed with a filtration element that we could buy in bulk. Compared to today's standards it looked cheap but if you trim the bottle nicely, used an old radiator hose as a shim between the carb and the bottle then clamped it on, we had a pre-Uni filter system for the old AF05 engines.
Reliable and dependable tuning from 15+ years of experience.

in all truth (as unlikly as it sounds) i found it in the dash of my friends audi while putting in his radio. it made no sense at all. so i took it. i want to hook up a shift light at 6500rpm and label it "V-Tech" where my high beam indicator is right now

Ha, on an Audi. odd. i have a 97 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. lol

But the V-Tech is off of a honda car. It's the motor that's in it, very nice motor too, has an awesome sound to it when its in high RPM's

Nice, i'm looking at getting a 1991+ Acura Integra. The 1991-1993 are cool because they have the JDM look to them.

Then the 94+ have the round headlights, which i like too.
