Did you say 100psi compression? that sounds low. Also try gaping the plug at 0.25 instead of 0.28. Make sure that the airbox lid is not leaking and the gasket is there. I have and 84 spree and with the ax 24 belt and some intake porting and bigger 86/87 reeds with a better exhaust, I can hold 30-31mph on the flats.

Spree in stock form will typically get 75-100 MPG... 50 mi on the .5 gallon tank.

Make sure the exhaust port is clear. You can get at it by removing the muffler.

Greetings:

Quoth Mr. Chimpo:
I figured it should be right around 60 MPG but unsure now because the exhaust is straight piped.
If by that you mean no muffler at all; Performance, Fuel Economy as well as High-Frequency Hearing will be diminished compared to running a stock exhaust. 'Smokers depend on a little pressure reverb to run right. Even a low-performance Stock muffler is better than nothing, and almost certainly better than sputtering through a straight pipe.
