All you can do is try it and check the plug to see how it's running.

If your doing alot of long distance riding where your at 3/4 to wot throttle for 2-5 or longer miles at a time then yeah use the 8.If your doing stop and go city riding use a 7 plug.

So I rode to work today, first time really relying on the new bore to get me someplace and everything worked out great. The only thing is I can max out my gearing pretty easy on the flats, so I was wondering if anyone wants to trade their 8.4:1 s for my 9:1s?? I have a 2001 sa5o, so if anyone is interested in trading, we couls just leave the big gear pressed onto the main shaft and trade!?

Hello everyone, update time.

So I have a 30mm v8 pipe coming from trafficjamz(good seller) and am going to tune when it arrives. On my other v8 I was at a 105 drilled jet and it was deffinately rich. I made it that rich for break in, but I have about 300 miles on the bore now, so I might try that 105 jetting with this new pipe. Running pump+2oz oil premix. Also going from a bp6 to a 8 because I do mostly distance rides. Really excited to see if this pipe pushes me over 60 with the 9:1s. I had a lot of power all the was to 55, so I'm guessing I should probably change to 8.4:1s. Trades?

Greetings:

There have been reports of 60MPH top speeds on 9:1 gears. While mathematically possible, I'm not sure it's a good idea to run at the RPM required to achieve that speed with those gears, even if the pipe permits you to reach that RPM. I'm convinced big-bore power really needs 8.4s at least.

You have got me convinced. I'm gonna get my pipe and have fun doing wheelies for a bit, then trade up.

Do you have the rear trans cover with 2 berings or the one with only one.

Do you know what I mean?

Is there a bering behind the BIG gear on Your case?

If there is a bearing there, I will trade with you for your 9.1:1 for my 8.4:1 already pressed on the shaft.

Yesterday limp gave me a deal on some parts, so I ordered a set of gears from him, sorry!

So I got my exhaust on today, lookin great, and jetted up to a 110 main.

Question, I have 6.5 grams in my vari and that worked great on my last pipe, I felt the rpm hit the sweet spot up high, but this exhaust with the 6.5s doesn't rev up as high and I think I can get more power out of it if I get more rpm.

Should I drop down to 6s or does this pipe have a lower powerband than my old v8?

Anyone with an opinion on reducing roller weights?

It doesn't seem as revy with the 6.5s as my last pipe.

The only way is to try the 6g rollers and go by feel.

Alright, so after 4 different combos of weight going all the way down to 5g rollers, I realized I was going in thw wrong direction.

The v8 pipe I have decided is a low-mid rpm power pipe that doesn't need a ton of rpm.

7g rollers are now in my vari and its a nice relaxing ride with a grip of torque whenever I want it. I can now cruise at 45 or so without it seeming really reved out.

Didn't get to gps it, but top speed should aproach 60, will confirm later!!

so, just ordered a uni, i am running a 110 jet right now in the stock carb and it seems reasonably rich, thats the largest jet that i have without using a jet that i drilled using a 57 drill bit which gives about a 118. tried 118 in my current setup and it wouldnt even move it was so rich. so i pretty much have a 110, or a 118.

anyone know if the uni leans things up enough to use the 118? or will i probably be closer to the 110, which is reasonably rich currently. oh, and i have about 350-400 miles on the new bore.

thanks!!

Got the uni on, and now acceleration to a flat spedo needle takes a couple less seconds. Way louder though... kinda cool sound, but I hope the neighbors don't care..
