Yep, the stock engine mount will make the AF16 engine offset to the right side, i think. after looking closely at the AF16 1994+ elite engine mount, it looks to me like the "gooseneck" of the mount would be waay too high to fit in the frame tube of the NB50.

Look at the microfiche on the SA50 engine mount and then look at the 1987 SE50 to see what i mean. -i found a used 1987 SE50 engine mount on Ebay that i ended up buying for like $4, and it mounted the engine exactly where it needed to be!

You are correct on the bushings; what you have heard is that the AF16 engine's bushings have larger holes (the AF16 uses a larger diameter engine mount bolt) than the AF05 engine. You will see when you try to mount the AF16 with the NB50's engine mount bolt that the bolt is too small for the bushings in the AF16, which would cause the AF16 engine to wiggle around. -However, there is no need to put AF05 bushings in the AF16 engine. What works PERFECT is simply using the engine case dowel-pins INSIDE of the AF16 bushing holes; it steps-down the size perfectly and is the correct length to use the stock NB50 / AF05 engine mount bolt.

Good luck with your AF05 build, man.... the AF05 engines have some HUGE potential for making some big power, too!! Parts are still out there, they just sometimes take some digging to find! Wheelman-111 seems to have that area of expertise on lockdown!!

LOL,
Our chopped up 86 Aeros look pretty similar.
I have so far lengthened it by about 8 inches,
but raised everything up so I can stand and ride so it's classified as a goped here in CA.
(legal to ride on the street with no reg or insurance)

I didn't add one yet in the picture.
For now, I just added in a Goped gas tank mounted to the top of the rear shock.
Rode it for a bit and the float valve started dumping,
so I stopped. Just ordered a new one, so I'll start up on her again soon.

When I get it more locked down and tuned in, I'm going to add a big fire extinguisher
to the front, and tap the bottom with 1/8 or 1/4NPT thread for a brass fuel fitting hose barb
or manual petcock.

I just got a great black billet deck for it, so I now have all the parts needed, except for
an extension rear brake cable and new throttle cable.

While I applaud the work involved on that "goped" above, it looks absolutely hideous.

I too have an Aero that will become a standup soon. I picked up this fully functional 86 Aero for a donor bike. The plastics will soon be up on Ebay and here in the classifieds. Here's some pics of the bike as it is now:

It's not even close to being done.
Like I said, it's a project in the works I thought I would share.
All projects are not pretty until the very end.

When it is done it will be much nicer.

BTW, that evil Rabbit standup is super awesome!
I wonder what the donor scoot was.....

Well that makes 2 people interested in the rear plastics, you are the first for the seat. It is in pretty good shape and maybe has 2-4 small holes in it. None is larger than say the tip of a cigarette, some are imperceptible. There are some darker spots on it, may come off with a cleaning. Foam pad seems to be in excellent shape, firm and well planted on the frame. Plastics are a mixed bag, there is one hole that's busted on the left side plastics and some marks from the starter. On the right there is a big sanded looking mark above the "Aero 50" decal. Glovebox works properly and I'll include one non-original (Ilco) key. PM me with a reasonable offer for what you're looking for.

I always loved the look of stretched scoots.

I found a great cable source ,
you might be needing to make a new throttle and rear brake cable most likely....
Though , even an 8 inch stretch might be able to utilize the same cables...
Honda was very generous with longer than needed cable lengths.
