coil

Post by vette76 »

this isnt really a perf. mod but kinda is too. if u get what i mean. i just had a problem which i found to be my coil. as u know the elite coil wire is like 4 in. longer then the spree's. (if u didnt kno). i swapped coils with the spree because of my problem and noticed a big difference in power. this probably doesnt really help spree owners but u could swap a stock elite with a stock spree coil. this helps because there is less resistance with the shorter wire. u could also make the coil wire shorter if u wanted to. * just put the coil on the boot!

hope this helps.

I've been wondering if those red "Shoot Shiny" coils are any good. I know Diosoljah's running one.

i tried the coil/boot thing i made and there is noticable more torque, and it even seems like it revvs higher. even midrange greatly improved.

I find this interesting. does it really work??? I have been thinking about changing coils for a long time now but wasn't sure if there were any real gains. now if you did this mod to a performance coil would that be even better???

yes it works. if u are into cars just think of the new corvettes. they have a seperate coil for each cylinder. tis means it only uses a 3 in coil wire instead of 3 feet. they did this to cut down on resistence.

if u tried this with a performance coil yes it would get even better.

... I'll have to ask around about your theory on the shorter wires; I think that had an much to to with improved engine controls as anything.

It's easy to shorted the wires, just unscrew the plug end and cut off the excess wire. On MC's, cutting 1/4" off the end is almost an annual maintanace task. Important to note that on Spree carbs, only the plug end is replaceable, not the coil.

That was badly typed. On "normal" MC coils, the coil, wire, and plug end are all seperately replaceable. On a Spree/Elite coil, the wire is sealed to the coil. So once you trim the coil wire to the point that it's too short, you have to replace the coil to replace the wire.

Those "Shoot Shiny" coils should drop into the Spree; the design between all Honda 50 scoots looks very similar.

That's right, you had someone selling you those. Who and how much?

You've got your SE50 together with the piston kit? How do you like it?

i love it so much it is soooo fast. so far i got to i am guessin because it ran out of number on the speedo. but i am think 50mph so far. and it is quick very quick. i raced my friend with a spree and i just stomped him. lol. but still waitin on the coil it should be here tues. so yeah the bore kit is a 65cc and i have 1000RPM center spring wow what a difference. i can just bearly hit the gas and i do a wheelie. i did a huge burn out with it i wanted to see if i could fill up a parkin lot with smoke. and it did i had a new tire so before i put the new one on i let it rip. lol i did a donut with it and left a mark on the new pavement. lol
