Using the "search" feature here you'd discover the general advice is no enhancement via a race cdi, only good if your stock one fails.
Re: "Race" cdi- yes/no
I am using my stock 89 EliteE CDI on my conversion. Runs great.

Re: "Race" cdi- yes/no
unless you have a very high reving aftermarket pipe and cylinder to match and rotor kit,the race cdi won't do much.
Nothing like getting stroked!

Re: "Race" cdi- yes/no
If you aren't revving over 10,000 rpm I wouldn't even think of buying one.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

No point in doing it unless you have CDI related problems. Only Japan model AF18E DIOs came with a factory speed restriction built into the CDI.

Only use these as a replace for a known dead OEM unit, and even then only if the price is better than good used OEM or other chinese clone.

My blue cdi was cool + shiny for about a week, after that it went bad.
Stick with the stock.
