De-restricting a Spree is very trickie, they were designed to run 30 mph or less, and screwing around with that tune can make you slower or burn your motor up. Up jetting by itself will make you slower. The cheapest trick is to install a bigger tire. A 2.75 X10 will fit for sure and a 3.00 X10 will fit most Sprees. There is the pulley mod and the AX-24 belt. Other than that, the big bore kit is the best way to go, but it is very expensive.

I have a 85 spree and did the tire upgrade and it has worked out great. My new tires gave me an extra 4-5mph without any noticable loss in off the line power. It was kinda slow off the line before and is about the same with the new tires. A very cheap way to turn a 30mph scoot into a 35mph scoot. The tires I went with work out to be about 2.8" instead of the stock 2.5 and help the bike in every way. Better grip, better feel over bumpy roads, better looks and of course better top speed :thumbwink:

yes tire upgrade would mean bigger tire. the spree comes stock with 2.50X10 and you can fit a 2.75X10 on with no problems, and depending on what brand a 3.00X10 will fit fine. what it will do is change you gearing a little to give you more top speed.

3X10 or 90/90/10 is your best bet. Brand is totally up to you although you risk the chance of slight rubbing that a grinder can usually cure with different brands of tire. I like the Pirellt SL-26 nice tire no rubbing issues. Not recomended for the Spree.
