clarkembers wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2020 6:06 am So I'm new to scooters and just bought an 1987 Elite SE50P. This scooter has very low miles and runs great but I'd like more top speed.
As I understand the 50P means it's a restricted engine version. How would I make it into a regular SE50 or just more speed in general ? I'm familiar with building and working on 2 stroke snowmobile engines so I imagine these scooter engines should be pretty simple. I've read something about changing a plate in the carb, different exhaust, and jetting it up a size. Is there any truth to that?

Thanks
I have everything you need, PM me.

What’s up, just read this whole thread and I’m looking to get my restricted model into the mid 30’s. I read that the exhaust and ramp plate will get me there. Not really sure what to search for when shopping for those parts. Do you happen to have a list or can you drop some quick knowledge on where I might get them?

The ramp plate alone will get you mid-thirties.

Then you need an unrestricted pipe, from an Aero, or 88-93 unrestricted elite, or buy an aftermarket. When you do the pipe, you need to upjet the carb to a #85 main jet.

I have all of that stuff except the pipe.

Is there a video on how to do the jet and ramp plate?

You can check on youTube for tutorials on mods to honda scooters. Include the model designation in the search.
