Oil Plug installation

Post by axo »

I got one of those 10 bucks plugs from VT to replace the oil pump on my engine.
It comes with a hole in the center for a screw... but a screw alone will not hold it in place... should i make some kind of plate to help holding it in place? may be i should post a picture so you can see what i am talking about.
How should i install it?

Make a little bracket or install an over lapping washer. I will try to find a picture.

when installing a big bore kit, it is advised to run premix and do away with the oil pump. the oil pump output is not adequate.

The oil pump resides in the portion of the crankcase which the air/fuel mixture is drawn. A 'holeless' washer type cover will reduce crankcase compression, with a potential performance downside. Oil pump plugs replace or exceed the OEM volume of the oil pump shaft. Some other oil pump plugs are on the 'wiki' along with members methods to retain the plugs. http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5?t ... Pump_Plugs

Photo below is from 'burnt_toast', and is a commercial oil pump plug. The threaded hole in the center is thoughtfully provided, in case the owner want's to pull out the plug and re-install an oil pump.
