What exactly do I have, and how could I make it faster?

It is a 1989 Honda Elite. But I don't know which variation of the Elite it is.

VIN is JH2AF1701KK113517

It was originally black but has been painted blue.

It has been in the shop for 2 weeks getting a full workover. It runs great.

Wondering if and how I can make this faster. The guys at Moto-Scoot in Milwaukee seem to know what they're doing and said the first thing to do to make it faster would be to drill something out in the muffler, so I had them do that.

Are there any more performance parts that I can get that will be an easy install? I don't know too much about engines, so I'm looking for something that won't involve cutting and welding.

Check under the saddle. There may be a sticker with a model code. I suspect it might be SB50, which is the Elite "E". If so unfortunately there are few options and little hope of it exceeding 40 MPH, if that, without swapping engines.

If it says SA50, there are tons of ways to make it faster, all the way up to 60 and beyond. (Despite what some people tell you...) That'd be an Elite 50 LX in that model year.

Do I have any other options to make it get up to 40 other than drilling out the exhaust?

Hey don't dis the Elite E.
I put in a 86cc version of the Dio in mine. Still looks pretty stock, is fairly quiet but will go 60 with current 9.1:1 gearing. I have thought about longer legs (gears) but the Elite E doesn't have the handling or brakes IMO.

I sold my old motor to TAz he was going to make a EliteE run 50.

But how come no one else has ever seen this bike or can vouch for it's unbelievable performance?

My honda pal goes 37mph on a flat surface. It is the same as the elite e engine. I have the 48mm BBK and the gear ratio. It takes off like stock but once it hits 3 or 4 mph it kicks in real nice. I had my pal going 44mph going down hill. I will post some pics of my pal restore soon. The 48mm kit will fit the elite e(sb50).

You would have to get your head bored and change the jet in your carb

I agree with the larger carb jet, but it's probably better to bore out the scooter's cylinder head than your own.

Several Forumistas have reported success with the 68cc SB. I'm still not clear how to address the tiny and fixed Pilot circuit in the stock carb. Unlike most carbs, you cannot simply swap to a richer Low Speed jet. Perhaps raising the needle and turning the air bleed clockwise richens the low end sufficiently? Someone with Actual Experience should comment.
