Keli variator.. WOW!

Post by ktroy »

$46 shipped off ebay. HUGE top speed increase! I cannot describe how much this simple variator has changed the bike. It revs LESS than before while going 6-7+ mph faster. Doesn't require new anything. Same back plate, same face plate, same belt, same everything. Just new variator with the rollers it came with.

I might as well return those upgears I bought. Completely no need now.

Just thought I'd share. :D

if you have alot of hills or twisty curves where you ride, get the sef plate to go with it. awesome combo when you need it to be a little more "shifty". i pushed my nb50 slightly over 50 on the stock bore with this and the pipe.

I actually did order one of these plates with my gears. I got the 9.8 gears :D
What pipe did you end up using with stock bore? Was it a PITA to set up? Did you have to change the contra spring?

Graham the plate can be ordered through VTcycles for 15 bucks.

mine was on an aero. so the set up was slightly different. it was the malossi wild lion pipe, it hit kind of high in the RPM range on a 50 but was very usable. went with a 1.5 k contra and a 7-8 mix on the rollers i believe. it is a steeper plate so i found it required a slightly heavier roller than expected to be able to push them all the way out at max RPM.

So how fast is it now?

Was is going 25mph before and now it goes 32mph? Or was it already going 35mph and now it goes 42mph?

When I first got my scooter, I got it to do a solid 35mph by removing all the restrictions. Then I got a Keli variator and gained only 2mph.

The 9.8:1 gears are nice for a stock setup. I would keep 'em. They can get you over 45mph if you tune the tansmission right.
