dont use the back plate.! it restricts the movement of the ramp plate. leave out and gain 3-5 mph.

No grease with the new style of rollers.

so no grease and no "back plate, I think the manual calls it a moveable face seal.

honda put the grease in there thinking that it would help the rollers. but they made a big mistake.they stopped doing it in the 99-01 motors.putting grease makes the rollers get flat spot quick. that backing plate was so the grease doesn't get all over the trans case and it also restricts the ramp plate from moving out as far.

wow, thanks guys. I didnt get any install notes or anything and it has the same threaded holes on it so it looked like that back plate went on. I tried everything to get it on there.

Replace the stock ramp plate as well. daywot doesn't include one with the variator but there are better options then the stock one.

Greetings:

Ramp plates with steeper angles give the Moveable face more travel thus better top speed. The variator also "downshifts" faster when you encounter hills, or when you cut, then reapply throttle.
Makes for a more responsive engine and a livlier ride. SEF makes such a plate. My best results with the Keli was using a Malossi plate.

I have an off-brand plate that works about as well.

well the problems werent with the actual variator, they were with my understanding of how it was put together. I only said daywot so that people knew which one I was talking about directly. I had no problem with daywot himself. Pretty fast shipping even from Hawaii.
