Does your Spree/Elite already run great, and you're trying to make it quicker/faster? Need a monster motor swap? Discuss your ideas here.

Stop me if I am wrong, I would swap the engines first off and use the iowa for parts :D I cant remember right off hand where the restrictions are on the iowa whether exhaust, carb, and or cdi I have hte 86 myself and I am a long way from Iowa

use the search function.
but if i remember correctly, 1st thing first is to swap the exhaust(or just remove the washer), but if you do this you also have to change your main jet(to something like a 68 i think) otherwise you will lean out the engine.

Do what Plankton said. Do not swap engines, the '87 is as good or better than the '86.
