is it true you can drill out the exhaust and gain a few mph on a 85 spree

The drilling out of the exhaust only applies if your muffler has the restrictor washer welded in the opening of the exhaust pipe where the pipe bolts to the exhaust port on the cylinder. Drilling the muffler else where is a waste of time and hard on the ears and can get you ticketed.Storm wrote:Assuming I understand this right,
if I already have a 68 main jet, theres nothing to be gained by butchering the muffler (apart from sore ears) ?
Does not matter, if the washer is there it is obvious because it is welded over the opening and you just remove all traces of it.Storm wrote:What size should the opening be sans washer? Will be taking a look next time 'I'm in the shed
