sure it is...i have a 14.4mm belt right now(used to be a 15.5...i need a new one)

No, didn't measure it. It is still in relatively good condition, but who knows when/if that belt was last changed. That will be #1 on my new parts ordering list.

Looking good and being good are two different animals. The belt on one of my Aero 125 looks good but is 3 mm below spec.

You're absolutely right Bear. Is eBay the best place to score OEM parts for my scoot?

I've seen belts on flea-bay that cost more than the Honda dealer and I've seen them cheaper. But the Honda belt isn't all that expensive if it is still available as it was only used on the 1983 and '84 Aero 50.

Ok, here is the part number for the clutch weight set....22535-GE8-010

All of these sites except for hondapartshouse.com say that this part is discontinued.

I wrote hondapartshouse an email to see if hey actually have these in stock.

Flea-Bay might have to be the source for that part if it is unavailable from honda.

The belt should be pretty easy though.

Once I start flirting with variator weights, what weight do you think I should start experimenting with? I don't know how much the OEM rollers weigh.

The owners manual says the weights are approx 16mm tall, is it safe to assume they are 13mm wide? That seems to be a standard roller size.

Seems like all of these sites that sell "OEM" parts, never really have any of it in stock once you check into it.

There are several local places in town here. I called about the belt and it was only about 5 bucks over retail. Don't have to pay shipping though, so I'll still save money.

I'm printing out the part numbers and diagrams off of these "OEM" websites, so I can just walk into my local place and order what I need.

Until just recently the web site prices for my dealer had not been updated. All the parts prices were several increases behind and I would cut and paste and the parts guys would give me that price. About 2 months ago they finally updated the prices on the site but I still get a discount above and beyond what is posted on the site. Long time steady customer gets treated right at smart dealers.

Reviving this from the DEAD. Is there anything That can be done to the variator to try to get some more speed? I have an 85’ Aero with the Kelli variator, and it will hit 41/42. I’m thinking about buying a mint low mile 84’ near me but would like it to be at least close in speed to my 85’.

Looking for anyone who has tried something and got it to work. Thanks!

I have an 1983 Aero 50 and an 1984 Aero 50. Both run great, but top out at about 33 on the level and have very zippy accelleration. Until this morning, I hadn't read this topic, and even though I have removed several back plates on Elite S variators with the resulting instant gain in top speed, I hadn't thought of doing it to the 1983-1984 Aeros. I am sure both of my Aero variators still have grease in them and back plates. I'll have to start experimenting myself in the next week or two. Unlike the rest of the Honda 50 scooter fleet, the 1983-84 Aeros have 50 mph speedometers..
