Compression Tester

Post by NetCustoms »

Which compression tester do you guys use? The one I have has two problems, it doesn't lock to the compression acheived and doesn't fit without removing the gas tank!
Does AutoZone or Advance have these as loaners?

Just installed a new Ruima 50mm and Stock carb upjetted to 100main. Kick started it a couple times and it fired up but smoked quite a bit due to heavy oiling upon assembly. I let it run for about 10minutes in the shop until it smoked up the place so I turned it off and walked it out to the parking lot. Would not start up after that. This is the first time I have used the bystarter on a scooter, typically I switch to a manual choke but will probably do that later on with the other engine I am going to build. Thought it might be the bystarter contributing to the problem of retarting it after semi warming it up so I let it sit for a couple hours, cleaned the plug which did have gas on it, the plug was not new and came from the unknown bin but looked pretty good. BR6HSA. Compression does seem ok but dont really know. Tried starter fluid just to see if that would help and no dice!

Never starting fluid, not a good idea.

I always see a link to one from harbor freight, when that question is asked.

Look in the wikispreedia on testing by-starter also do a search for testing with a battery.

good luck

If the compression gauge does not hold pressure the shrader valve is bad, replace it. The sharder valve is a valve like goes in your tires valve stems.

Starting fluid and 2 strokes are enemies, Never use it again.
