Another noobie question....
I have the 2000 Elite S oil pump zipped wide open plus I add 1 oz of Castor 927 to the gas tank every fill-up. Is that too much oil? Thanks in advance for the help!

A little rich, You shouldnt have to add the extra ounce. Unless seating new rings or so forth.

Re: Too much oil?
Greetings:
Quoth acm77:
Maybe you could pre-mix in a jerry can to a fixed ratio and do all your fill-ups at home. At the very least, convert your fuel purchase to ounces and add the same ratio each time, even if that means measuring fractions of an ounce.
Getting 50:1 from that pump wired open shouldn't need much more than 120:1 or so.
Quoth acm77:
The trouble is: Whut's a "Fill-up"? If you get down a half-tank and add, say .8 gallons, you've got 100:1. On the next fill-up, if you add another ounce but only a half-gallon of gas, you begin to increase the ratio of oil/gas. Pretty soon, 'twill be too much....plus I add 1 oz of Castor 927 to the gas tank every fill-up9Emphasis added)

Re: Too much oil?
Thanks for the replies...
What are the effects of running too much oil?
With the motor being stock, do I:
1. Just keep the oil pump zipped and not add any oil to the gas tank?
or
2. Remove zip tie and carefully measure oil added to tank?
What's the best/recommended ratio for my current set-up?
Thank you very much!

Re: Too much oil?
Greetings:
Keep in mind the stock SA50P model pump maxes at 70:1, even Zip-Tied open. The SR version puts out 50:1. Some people like SpreeMadness suggest you don't add any oil, and perhaps that's based on successful experience. Then again, maybe not. Apparently Honda's engineers thought the de-restricted version needed more oil than the S pump supplies. Who am I to disagree? Proceed with caution.
Too much oil effectively LEANS the Air/Fuel ratio a little as the oil supplants the Fuel side of that equation. A size-bigger main jet is the solution. More smoke is to be expected, along with a little more soot. Too little oil can be far more troublesome.
